Fascial Remodeling |
Treatments are provided by RMT Asha M.
This massage therapy technique specifically treats the connective tissue (called Fascia) that holds the body together. It can be done as spot work for various conditions, or as a series of sessions for longer lasting results.
WHAT IS FASCIA?
Fascia is a 3D network that provides form and structure to the body, allowing for flexibility and movement. Fascia includes the sheets, bands and sacs found in the body as well as ligaments, bursae, tendons, and tissues of the nervous system. Our fascia should move, glide, and stretch but when it hardens and sticks together, it results in unwanted symptoms.
Our fascia is designed to move, glide, and stretch. As a response to various stressors it will thicken and adhere which reduces it's ability to function properly and usually results in various unwanted symptoms. The stressors that cause fascia to become restricted include trauma, illness, surgery, injury, and a sedentary lifestyle among others.

Is this treatment right for me?
When fascia is restricted you may have one or more of the following symptoms:
Additionally if you have tried other types of therapy with little relief, it may be time to consider this type of treatment.
- Chronic Pain
- Weakness
- Congestion/Unresolved Swelling
- Reduced Range of Motion
- Joint Restrictions
- Decreased Flexibility
- Poor Posture and/or mental state
- Poor Breathing and/or shortness of breath

WHAT TO EXPECT
The treatment goal for Fascial Remodeling is to open, soften and release the restrictions of the fascia and it's many layers. The treatments go from superficial to deep as much as the body will allow in each session. Although there can be great results after just one session, in the case of long standing issues it may take several sessions to access restrictions at deeper levels in the body.
At the end of your treatment you are likely to feel an improved range of motion in your joints, a reduction in restriction and/or pain, a greater sense of relaxation, and an overall 'lighter' feeling in your body

What to expect
A breast treatment will always begin with work on the surrounding structures to ensure proper drainage of the breast tissue before it is treated.
The massage on the surrounding structures is geared toward treating the fascia or connective tissue as well as the muscles which affect drainage and posture. (See "What is Fascia" in the Fascial Remodeling treatment option above.)
The breast tissue is then treated using gentle techniques which are effective but not painful.

BREAST CANCER & BREAST SURGERIES
In the case of cancer treatment or cosmetic surgery, treatment can be done prior to surgical procedures to prepare the body for the upcoming physical changes. Using a combination of Fascial Remodeling and Manual Lymph Drainage, we ensure that the tissues are moving well and that the lymphatic channels are not restricted.
